Irrational Fears

Barb and I were talking about our irrational fears the other day and we decided to both write a post about them.  I was planning on writing my post on my irrational fear of aliens (Matt and I saw Pitch Black in college, I made Matt walk me to my dorm room afterward, in case aliens were hiding in the hallway), but instead I have a better one.

Introducing my new irrational fear!  Fear of cruise ships!

Months ago, I had a dream.  Well, let’s call it a nightmare, since I woke up drenched in sweat and wasn’t able to sleep for the rest of the night.  I dreamed that we were all on a cruise and I had put Elizabeth in the kid’s play area, like daycare for cruises.  They had gotten her to fall asleep on her own (when I dreamed this, Elizabeth did NOT fall asleep on her own) so I was really excited.  Then in my dream, someone stole her and threw her overboard.

So now I have an irrational fear of cruise ships.  I cannot possibly go on a cruise, in case someone steals my baby and throws her overboard.  Before this dream, I was actually intending to take a cruise in the next couple of years (a Disney cruise, since I am a lover of all things Disney) but now I’ve totally changed my mind.  (I reserve the right to change it back, if I am able to get over my irrational fear.)

Barb actually solved my problem though, when I was telling her about this dream on the phone.  She says that I can still take the cruise, I just have to make sure Elizabeth wears water wings the entire time.
