Pretend Fruit Vignettes

This morning, Elizabeth and I made a run to Ikea, where we purchased some fabric fruit for Elizabeth’s play kitchen.  (She doesn’t have the kitchen itself yet, but will get it for her birthday/Christmas.  We are stocking it anyway.)  On the trip home, I heard Elizabeth saying “Hello!  Goodbye!” over and over again.  I assumed she was talking on her toy phone, which we keep in the car.  I looked in the mirror and discovered that she was instead talking on an orange and a kiwi.

For her nap today, she chose to take to bed two baby dolls and one slice of pretend watermelon.

When she woke up from her nap, I handed her the whole basket of pretend fruit.  She called Trin over (“Krin!  Come!”) and offered Trin the bunch of grapes.  Trin politely took it and then looked at me with sad eyes when I told her “no!  Baby toy!”  Trin’s opinion was that Elizabeth GAVE it to her and I should have let her have it.
