Reading is Fundamental and All That

I’m a huge reader.  But I rarely talk about books on here.  I don’t know why that is.  Maybe it is because I don’t tend to read a lot of new books, and instead prefer my old favorites.  I’ll read a book over and over again.  But I find it strange that books never come up as a topic of conversation on my blog.  I mean, I usually read at least a book a day.  Yesterday, I read The Moon by Night, the day before I read Meet the Austins, and today I’ll finish The Young Unicorns.

Madeleine L’Engle is one of my favorite authors.  I totally lost respect for someone in college who mentioned that she didn’t “get” A Wrinkle in Time.  I decided at that moment that she was therefore unintelligent (and I was correct, by the way).

Now that I have the CheekieFace, I don’t get to read nearly as much (hence that I am down to a book a day instead of two or three).  (Yes, I read fast and no, I don’t skip.  What’s the point of THAT?)  I mainly read while we are eating (when Matt is at work) or when Elizabeth is playing.  But since Elizabeth doesn’t approve of my reading (what do you mean that she isn’t the center of attention at every single moment), I usually have to read in snatches now.  Which is another reason I like re-reading books that are a comfortable fit.

I am off to read now (and I lost my voice from my illness, but I am feeling better, so I think I am on the mend).  So if you don’t like Madeleine L’Engle, you’d better not tell me if you want to remain in my good graces.
