Early Bullets

  • Elizabeth refuses to admit that her birthday is coming up.  Every time someone mentions her birthday, Elizabeth interrupts the conversation and says “NO.”  So apparently she’s not having a birthday.
  • Which means that I get to keep her present for myself.  Because her play kitchen was delivered last night and it is adorable.  Wait, I am sorry, I mean ADORABLE.
  • Because you are all so mean and you are making me her wait until her actual birthday, it is hiding under a sheet in the garage.
  • My dad sent the annual Christmas Advent calendars yesterday too.  This year he sprung for the ones with the good chocolate and sent THREE.  I will wait until December 1st to open them.
  • I think Elizabeth is going to be pretty excited when she figures out that calendar has a piece of chocolate for every day in it.
  • If I don’t eat all her chocolate myself.
  • Today, I did my second round of Thanksgiving/company-is-coming grocery shopping.  I did really well on the grocery budget this month…until I started this.  Now I think I may have already blown next month’s grocery budget too.
  • One of Elizabeth’s favorite things to do in stores these days is touch the Christmas trees.  She puts out one careful finger and delicately touches the tree.  Then we touch the next tree and the next tree.  Her favorite ones are the white trees.  (She has no taste.  I hate those white trees.  What are they supposed to be, the ghosts of Christmas trees past?)
  • A moment of bragging (dear karma, don’t come back to haunt me, please).  I’m a good parent.  I have a larger than life baby who has more energy than average and is more sensitive than average and more MORE than average and she behaves herself most of the time.  People are starting to tell me that she is a good girl because her behavior is almost always good.  I’m going to take credit for that because I understand how this baby works and how to make the world work for her and how to make her work for the world.
  • Thanks, I had to put that in writing because in the last few days a few different things have tried to make me doubt myself and there are a few things upcoming that will try to make me doubt myself.
  • My baby wore a duck costume to Wal-Mart today.
