Mid-Week Random

  • Tomorrow is the Saint Patrick’s Day party for the Mom’s Club at my house.  I think the count is at twelve adults and seventeen children at the moment.  Yikes.
  • Of course, I expect at least three or four to cancel or just not show up.  😉
  • After four months of having it on my computer desk in the packaging, I finally opened and installed my digital picture frame last night.  Elizabeth is enthralled.  It is a tiny television that plays pictures of her.  She is a fan.
  • In my installation last night, I need a USB thumb drive.  I tried for an hour to get one of the two drives I found to work.  Then I walked over to Matt and said “ARE these USB drives?”  He told me no.  I found the actual USB drive and installation took about three more minutes.
  • There is nothing like an upcoming party to get the house clean.  Unfortunately, it gets dirty again right after.  But then I have house-guests coming in April, so it will get all nice and clean again.
  • And one of the house-guests is my mom (and the others are my aunt and my sister) so the house will stay pretty clean while they are here too.
  • Have I mentioned that I hate vacuuming the stairs?  I don’t mind regular vacuuming, I actually kind of like it.  But if they sold a robot thing that vacuumed the stairs, I would buy it immediately.
  • Elizabeth is running up and down the stairs, pretending to cook me dinner in the upstairs shower and then bringing it to me downstairs at the computer.  The dinner she is bringing me- a foot washer thing from the shower.  Very appetizing.
  • My corned beef and cabbage is cooking in the crock pot right now for the party tomorrow.  (I considered trying to cook it the day of or overnight, so that I wouldn’t have to reheat, but it takes eight hours and needs attention at the halfway point- the day before was the only way to do it.  I am not getting up at three in the morning for corned beef.)  It is smelling really good.  However, you add the cabbage at the four hour point.  And right now the crock pot is stuffed full with the meat and the potatoes.  If they don’t cook down a little, I will not be able to fit the cabbage in the crock pot.
  • Elizabeth just told me “you need more food, Mama!  Say PEASE!  And you will say tank you.”  She makes sure that I mind my manners.
  • Oh, I came up with an idea to make the party more interesting for the little kids.  Everyone else is bringing food, so my idea was…balloons.  I bought a twenty pack of green balloons and I am going to blow them all up in the morning and fill the playroom with balloons.  It was the most creative idea I could come up with, since we are dealing with mostly two and three year olds.  They really aren’t old enough to do a craft or something like that.
  • I asked Elizabeth today if she wanted to take a nap or not.  Shockingly, she chose not.  So she’s running around in just her diaper, playing quite happily.  (I didn’t expect her to nap today anyway.  She napped the last two days and I can’t remember the last time she napped three out of three days.)
  • I really dislike how all the floors in this house look dirty even when they are clean.  As soon as we can afford it, that is the first change I am making to this house.
  • Elizabeth is in my refrigerator, saying “happy birthday!  Mama, say happy birthday to you!”
