Friday Night Leftovers

  • I adore hanging out with other people who understand toddlers.  Yesterday, we were at a playgroup and one of the other moms dropped a coin.  We asked Elizabeth to get it for her.  Elizabeth was distracted, so the mom just leaned over and picked it up.  Then since we were talking, she held it in her hand for a minute.  Elizabeth went to her and the other mom held the coin out so that Elizabeth could take it and give it back to her.
  • Also, toddler logic?  Is awesome.  Because of course taking a coin out of someone else’s hand and then returning it to them is the exact same thing as picking it up for them.
  • We went to the farmer’s market this week and all the produce they had for sale was a bunch of onions and a basket of yellow squash.  Apparently the farmer’s market wasn’t quite ready to open yet.  They did have about eight booths there, selling non produce things.  We got some bread and some honey.
  • Elizabeth dropped one of her tiny (but heavy wooden) chairs on my foot yesterday.  As is typical, I believe it to be broken and had Matt examine it.  (I’ve never actually broken any part of my foot, but I keep thinking that I have, until it heals all on its own too quickly.)  It’s probably not broken.
  • I started hanging all the pictures in the playroom.  I got halfway done and decided that it looked terrible.  I am going to have Matt help me this weekend.  Picture hanging (at least when you are doing eight pictures across a long, tall room) is apparently a two person job.
  • However, I did successfully hang the pictures in the dining room.  So I don’t totally suck.  🙂
  • We had a big storm here last night.  Luckily we had no damage and got some nice rain for the lawn.
  • Elizabeth now calls Cheerios “Rapunzel cereal.”  Marketing.  And she thought of that on her own.  Well, kind of.  She asked me one day for Rapunzel cereal and I gave her Cheerios because they were the only cereal we had in the house.
  • I went through all the professional pictures we’ve had taken of Elizabeth and divided them up to send to the relatives/friends.  And, um, based on what was in there, it has been a LONG time since I’ve done that.  Like at least a year.  More like a year and a half.  Oops.
  • I am about to go to Home Depot to see if I can find the last bits I need to finish the playroom.  I do not want to order them online and pay as much for shipping as for the actual item.
  • This morning, I told Elizabeth no movie while I was getting dressed and I put the television remote on the top of the dresser.  I went back and The Incredibles was playing.  It was bizarre.  I put the remote down upside down and it obviously turned on the movie.  But there are three different options (we have a fancy remote) and it chose the only option that shows Elizabeth movies.  As fate wanted her to watch a show, I let her watch for ten minutes.
