Elizabeth Stories

Today, Matt asked me if Barb got to the airport and home okay.  I said yes.  Dibits started shouting “Auntie Barb!  Auntie Barb!”  I asked her if she missed Auntie Barb.  She said yes.  I said “because you like Auntie Barb so much?”  And Dibits said “E is my favorite.” So now Barb knows where she stands.

When I was putting Elizabeth to bed tonight, I told her that it was time to go to sleep and tomorrow we would go play with friends.  She said “we will play with Auntie Barb and E.  I will not hit E because I will get in trouble.  I will be good girl.”  (Can you guess what behavior lessons Elizabeth worked on this weekend?)

Sometimes, Matt and Elizabeth “sneak” up to the big bed to watch a movie while I clean up from dinner.  Elizabeth locks the bedroom door to keep me out.  (We think that she thinks that it slows me down so that she doesn’t have to go to bed quite as soon.)  I break in using the door key and usually watch a few minutes before I take her to bed.  Tonight, I went in and Elizabeth got out of the bed, walked over to me and put her hand on my leg.  She then started pushing me towards the door, saying “go, Mama.  Go away.  Go, Mama.  Get!”  When I didn’t “get”, she went to Matt and snuggled into his arms and said “Dada!  Protect me!”  I believe someone wasn’t quite ready to go to bed.
