Summer Camp, Day Thirteen

Day 13– Tell us about the best job you ever had, and the worst. Do you ever blog or read blogs while at work? Do you ever quote or reference blogs while at work?

Well, the best job I ever had is the Dibits Wrangling that I am doing now.  But if you mean paid job, I think I liked the summer camp I worked at the year before I got married.  It was well run, organized, and kind of prestigious (it was a community program, in a nice community, and the one that the community considered their flagship program and therefore put all their main effort into).  The kids were mostly well behaved and nice kids (instead of the other way around, at the summer camp I ran two years after we got married).
The worst job I ever had was when I was an executive recruiter.  This is only because I hated cold calling.  It made me sick to my stomach, I couldn’t sleep, I wasn’t eating.  I stopped being an executive recruiter and became the same company’s office manager and it was now the second best job I ever had.  (There were a few extenuating circumstances that made it not my best job ever.)
I did used to read blogs and write blogs while at work, but only at office jobs.  (Obviously.  There aren’t many computers at a summer camp in the woods.)  (Ha, two boys at my summer camp used to ask me if they could bring their XBox to camp.  I told them if they could show me where they would plug it in, I would let them.)  And I worked so hard and overtime (for free, not paid) that I didn’t feel guilty about taking blog breaks occasionally, since I wasn’t actually cheating the company out of any of my paid time.
This post is from Calliope’s Summer Camp.  For serious, why aren’t you doing it too?
