We are leaving for the family wedding Mexico in about two weeks. Here is something I have been thinking about for a while: do I take the car seat or not?
We don’t need it once we get there (technically) because Mexico doesn’t have car seat laws. (According to the travel agent anyway.) We are going to be driving from the airport to the hotel and the hotel to the airport in a shuttle and that will probably be the only vehicle we ride in the entire trip. I lean towards taking it with us because you know how obsessed I am with car seat safety, but Matt thinks it will be more trouble than it is worth.
The other variable in the car seat equation is the plane ride. It is a four plus hour flight and if she’s not strapped into a rear facing car seat, that is a lot of times for me to say “take your feet off the seat in front of you.” Having a rear facing car seat on an airplane, even though it is totally legal and actually a really smart thing to do, is a big pain to deal with because all the flight attendants get into a fuss about it.
So, I think I’ve pretty much talked myself into it. But what do you think? Have you done this trip to Mexico with an Elizabeth type child?
