Today, Elizabeth and I decided that we needed to make a new mobile. (To see our first mobile, check out this post. Our first one is a rainbow star mobile.)
We decided this one should be a bird design. We started with some wooden bird cutouts from Michaels.  Then we drilled a hole in the top of each one. (Elizabeth: “I no yike dis, Mama! I no yike dis noise!”)
Then we painted our wooden birds some appropriately bright birdy colors.
After they dried, we strung each bird on a ribbon, tied a knot, and slipped a wooden bead over the knot to hide it.
Then we strung wooden beads on the top of the ribbons to keep the birds from sliding up through the top of the mobile.
Finally, we strung all the ribbons through the mobile ring (a floral ring, also from Michaels) and gathered them into a knot at the top. And now we have flying birds!

What a great idea! I’m saving this for our next rainy day art project
So so adorable. I love the birds. What a great craft and something wonderful for her to help.
Since I’ve become a stay at home mom I’ve been looking for great low cost ideas to entertain the toddler and came across an ad at Michaels called, “The Knack Passport to fun”. It is all these really neat (mostly free) crafts.
Most are Tues/Thursday – and are simple projects from around the world. Just thought I’d share – there is some that are paper, some that are clay. I took G today and she loved to color the little dress we made for the paper doll (today’s theme was Sweden). The recommend age 3 and up but knowing (from your blog) how smart Miss E is she will be fine. Have fun – thanks for the great Mobile idea.

Very cute!
Allison also hates loud noises. She covers her ears or sticks her fingers in them and says “That’s too loud mommy!”
I love this! I wish I’d remembered your rainbow star mobile post when I was looking for a mobile for Aedan.
