Deeply Important Question

Okay, now that it is September, the pressure is truly on.  I must start deciding what Elizabeth shall be for Halloween!  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, these are truly life and death decisions I am stressing over here.

Here is what I am thinking.  Last year’s pumpkin costume will fit her.

But that is boring.  She was a pumpkin last year.

She could be a ladybug.  I have always liked the ladybug costume at Babies R Us/Toys R Us.  But I think it is $30.

I could also dress her up as a fairy.  A little tutu (which I would make myself, in rainbow colors), some wings, etc.  Rainbow leggings underneath, obviously.  This is the one I am leaning towards.

What do you think? Answer the poll and leave comments. Obviously I will reward your hard work in helping me decide by showing you numerous pictures of her in her costume.

Don’t get upset, that may have been me, testing the poll on the poll’s main site. I didn’t think it would stick.

Have you looked at Goodwill or consignment shops? They often have good costumes this time of year. I just bought Z’s pirate costume yesterday! But otherwise, I vote ladybug.

I voted Fairy. My mom always made our costumes when we were little. I love those pictures and memories because she put so much thought and care into them.

I can’t decide between the fairy and the ladybug. I absolutely adore ladybugs, but the costume is a bit expensive – unless you find one at Goodwill or a consignment stored as suggested above. The fairy outfit sounds incredibly cute too and you can make it yourself since you’re so crafty. If I ever have a kid, I’ll have to buy costumes since I can’t even sew on a button (my mom has tried oh so many times to teach me to sew…hasn’t stuck yet and I am in my mid-30’s)

We’re doing butterfly (very similar to your fairy idea) this year. The decision was based on 1. what will baby swiss actually tolerate wearing and 2. what can we do that incorporates a tutu/pettiskirt. Plus she happens to be into butterflies right now, so that works out.

I LOVE the idea of a clown (with a colorful tutu, crazy leggings and fun collar). If Elizabeth would tolerate that, I vote clown. If not, I vote fairy or homemade tutu ladybug. Whatever you do will be darling.

Dude – you can’t have your kid be the same thing 2 years in a row. Here she is when she’s like 16 going through old pics….oh when I was just a few months old, I was a pumpkin for Halloween…then when I was one, I was a pumpkin for Halloween? NOOOOO!!!

I voted other, but my comment didn’t show in the poll. Hmmmm.

Anyway, I think you should look for the ladybug costume on craigslist. I know the one you are talking about and when I have been looking for Will’s Halloween costume on CL, I have seen in no fewer than fifty times. If you are okay with second-hand, you can get the costume you want for less than half the price!

I voted “fairy” – Elizabeth would look adorable as a fairy, and it (the whole costume, as well as individual parts of it) would be great for “play clothes” after Halloween :)

I voted fairy, because I want to see a fairy with a mischievous look. I just got Sunshine’s costume at TJ Maxx for $10. A pink ballerina outfit with criss cross satin ribbon down the front and, of course, a tutu. My sister bought her the ballet slippers for $5. Now she just needs tights. Gonna check if my friend who gives me all the hand me downs from her (IVF) twin girls has any tights.

I voted Fairy – so cute! My girl has been a disney princess every year since her first one….I think we are doing Ariel this year….Good Luck

I always stress out over what to have my girls wear for Halloween. I have no idea what I’m going to do this year. Lauren generally picks her own costume, and as such, has been Hannah Montana for two years in a row. I am hoping to guide her in a different direction this year! I might try to let Allison pick out her costume this year. I am thinking about taking them to Party City to look, but Lauren is scared of the Halloween decorations (because, duh, they are scary for kids and you think the store would know this!). So, we shall see. Good luck with your decision, and I can’t wait to see the pictures!
