Family Portrait Help!

We are having family pictures taken this weekend and I need some outfit assistance.  I’ve got three shirt choices for me.  Elizabeth will be wearing the dress I have in my hand in the pictures.  It’s a blue and white dress.  Matt will probably wear a white golf shirt.

So for me, we have Option A, the purple shirt.

Option B, the teal shirt.

And Option C: the navy blue shirt.  And the picture is fuzzy but I am not taking it again because I am lazy.

And Option Dibits, because she saw me taking pictures of myself with the automatic timer and needed one of herself.

So what do you think?  Purple, teal, or navy blue?  Or something else altogether that hopefully I already have in my closet.

First choice: purple or white (write-in candidate)
    Second choice: navy
    Third choice: teal

I agonized over our outfits for family pictures – so I’m right there with you. Once I picked white for the girls, my mom convinced me that Mr. Mouse and I should wear white shirts – which of course I didn’t have for myself (not that I really liked at least), so I ordered 5 different white shirts online to try to find a winner. I think the guy at the store thought I was nuts when I returned a bunch of different, but all white, shirts.

I’m torn between the purple and teal – I like the shape of the purple better, but on my laptop the teal looks like it goes with the dress better. But if that’s not the case in real life, go for the navy.

Do I get the award for least helpful comment?

We had family photos done last year and the photographer strongly encouraged me to avoid white (which as a bummer because almost all my clothes are white or black – which she also discouraged!). Anyway, I think they are all good choices, but since you asked us to pick, my first choice would be the teal, second the blue, and third the purple. Have fun – can’t wait to see some of the photos!

I agree with Bean that you (and therefore Matt) should avoid white. Elizabeth’s dress reads as light blue and looks good with all three tops, but I probably would lean towards the navy. Can you get Matt into a blue shirt?

I was a studio photographer back in the day before digital cameras became all the rage. I will tell you that based on the dress you will look best against her in the Navy Blue. The others are pretty, but too much of a contrast. Have fun!

I think I like the navy first, teal second, and the purple third. I think that either way you go, it will coordinate well with cutie pie’s dress!

I like them all, but navy the best. I think it will look best again the dress Elizabeth is wearing too, whereas the other two colors my be too much of a contrast.

I think the darker colors look great with the dress, but the teal looks good too and just looks more dressy and appropriate for a family photo.

And I like the teal best also for all the reasons everyone else everybody stated. :)

You’re probably having pix taken as I write, but of course you know my vote goes for purple! Can’t wait to see how the portrait turns out and what you picked.

    Nice self-portrait, Dibits!
