- Tonight is the official Halloween kick-off night. The first Halloween party. We will then go trick-or-treating at a nursing home on Monday, probably downtown trick-or-treating this weekend, and real trick-or-treating on actual Halloween.
- Last year, we did most of these. And somehow, I convinced Elizabeth to give away all the candy she received to the trick-or-treaters that came to our house after we got home. We gave away so much candy last year that I cannot believe it. I bought lots this year, but I suspect we will end up turning off the lights before the trick-or-treaters run out.
- I suspect she will not willingly part with her own candy so easily this year.
- But then again, she might. She was a HUGE fan of giving candy to the other kids (whom she called “customers”) last year. And she really likes kids, particularly bigger kids. (Or smaller kids. Or the same sized kids.)
- I’m still exhausted. The baby is sleeping better, but he is still getting up six or seven times a night. That’s…a lot, you guys.
- Things are getting slowly back to normal here, but I am still trying to catch up from the repercussions of two weeks of non-stop crying. (The baby’s crying, not mine. I only cried a few times.)
- If we stay home, Elizabeth gets bored and starts either A) trying to wake up the baby “accidentally” or B) performing tricks, which basically involves her flinging herself around the house and coming dangerously close to landing on the baby. So we’ve been just going places to go places. Like Target.
- Babies R Us appears to be discontinuing the type of hangers I like for the kids’ closets. So I bought all they had left today. However, that was only four packs.
- So, did you know that my Dresden is pregnant? Everyone all together: WHOOOOOO!

Jennifer,
Can you buy a few toys that Dibits can trade (sell) her candy for; perhaps some each night for a few days or until all the candy you want gone (or you don’t want to eat) is gone. Just a thought!
When I was a teacher it got around that I LOVED DOTS! Each year at Halloween (I LOATHE HALLOWEEN, by the way) that I will NOT give homework for TWO NIGHTS if they brang me ALL the Dots (I didn’t have any planned anyway; why try on the night of and the night after—I am the one who will get frustrated anyway).
Well, rumor got around and students in all the rooms would bring me all their Dots. Each year I ended up with enough boxes that if I ate one a year I wouldn’t be done the following Halloween (and quite frankly I did each one a day and by Thanksgiving I WAS DONE). It was fun though, and the kids loved to bring them to me; especially the ones I didn’t have in my class personally! However, I eventually did, and they all would remember when they brought me Dots when they were in kindergarten. NOTE: The Dots in the yellow box not the gross ones you pick off the paper!
I am glad that sleep is improving. That is hard. We often go places just to go places — like random drives. The baby (I say baby but she is almost two) goes feral about 11am and we need to leave.
Also, what wonderful news about Dresden!! Thank you for updating — I lost my blogroll and hardly read any blogs anymore so I hadn’t seen her news over there.
Ah, yes, my daughter has a tendency to “accidentally” do things. Fun stuff.
Glad to hear Ryan is sleeping better — though I feel for you on the number of wakeups. Ouch.
I told the girls we could only keep the candy that would fit into our “candy jar.” I don’t know why but they agreed to that. Suckers.
