Friday Night Leftovers- Sitting Up Edition

by HereWeGoAJen on February 8, 2013

  • Ryan is starting to not be a fan of riding in the car. I am hoping this is just a phase.
  • One of the things that Elizabeth has usually been pretty good about has been riding in the car, so we are a bit spoiled that way.
  • We went to a friend’s house today and as we were driving home, Elizabeth cried because she missed her friends and then pretended that they were with her to make herself feel better. She’s such a nice girl.
  • Yes, we did buy new bandaids today. But not the right kind as they didn’t have them. I let her get Lisa Frank ones instead and the bandaids have stickers to decorate the bandaids with. So she’s a fan of that.
  • Ryan is starting to occasionally take longer naps. He’s always been a twenty minute catnapper, but he did two and a half hours yesterday. I was really surprised. Today, he’s done two twenty minute ones and now is still sleeping after an hour.
  • But he sleeps really well at night, so he’s permitted to do whatever he wants during the day.
  • I do kind of miss being able to go out to dinner whenever we want like we used to. Ryan’s I-want-bedtime-at-5:30pm thing has kind of ruined that. We still manage it occasionally, but it takes pre-planning now.
  • See? I mentioned it and he woke up. He’s now assisting with this blog post by clawing frantically at my moving hands with his little sharp nails. (Which I just cut YESTERDAY, what is up with that, baby?)
  • Speaking of what is up with Ryan, he started sitting up today. He can’t like totally do it, but with his hands in front of him, he can sit upright for several minutes at a time. He’s not at the point where he can be left alone or anything since he is still liable to fall over occasionally, but he’s pretty much got it. He’s FOUR MONTHS OLD. What the what? I think this is even earlier than early sitter Elizabeth.
  • Like right now? He’s holding on to my computer desk but completely supporting himself upright. Crazy town.
  • This afternoon, Elizabeth asked me for “the show with the dock where stuff springs down.” I asked her what people were in it. I asked her what else happens. Nothing. We went through all the shows on the DVR and I was halfway through all the DVDs before she said “there is a rocket ship and pizza chases it.” AH HA. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. (She used to call that Ice Cream Show because obviously, the part where it snows ice cream is the best.)
  • The weather here has been weird. We’ve had a few beautiful days, a few freezing days, and a lot of gray, raining days. And it has been varying by like fifty degrees in one day.
  • As soon as there is a nice, non-rainy day for it, we are going to walk to Elizabeth’s school to see if that is practical and feasible and how long it takes. She starts too early in the morning for us to walk in the mornings, but I’d like to walk to pick her up when the weather permits. School! School! Too SOON!

I was reading along and all of a sudden I realized: you have TWO kids. TWO! Did you know that?

Margaret would LOVE bandaids you decorate with stickers.

They were from Walmart, about $3. In a little decorated metal tin right next to the other bandaids.

That is really early for sitting. You’ve got a strong boy on your hands. Perhaps you should nickname him BamBam?

I really hope the car thing is a phase! And sleep? Glorious sleep!
