Ryan Matthew, born Wednesday, September 26, at 6:00pm (and fifteen seconds), seven pounds, one ounce, and nineteen and a half inches.
I will have to do more details when I am not typing with one thumb, but basically, I woke up yesterday morning and thought “hey, those contractions hurt.” Then I continued to have random contractions all day, some five minutes apart, some forty minutes apart. But I had those with Elizabeth for a whole day before anything got serious so I was still thinking I’d check in for my induction at four, only now it would be more of an augmentation.
And then, suddenly at three o’clock, the sporadic contractions went regular and three minutes apart and WHOA. So I texted the friend who was watching Elizabeth and said we were going to bring her by now, instead of later as was the plan. And we dropped Elizabeth off at 3:45pm and I had the baby slightly more than two hours later.
My doctor came in this morning and said “well, that was impressive.”
And look, he’s pretty cute.

I know the feeling I checked into the hospital with my second at 11:30 pm and by 12:06 she was born! Yeah for quick labors. I had the pleasure of not feeling a contraction though till 9:30 pm that night.
Congratulations again!! Have I told you yet how adorable he is? Because, VERY.
He and you are both impressive!

Yup, definitely adorable. I am glad everything went so well. My sister has labours like that – what a gift – and you deserve an easy labour (and hopefully an easy baby, too); I know you guys have been through a lot to get him. Congratulations.

Congratulations!!!! I’m looking forward to many more pictures … and some “reaction shots” with big Sis. :)
I also like the fact that Ryan appeared on the day that he was originally scheduled to show up. He’s obviously a man who prefers organization! That bodes well for your future! ;)
Congratulations! Ryan is adorable. And clearly a genius baby who already understands the virtues of being on time.
Such a cutie!!!! Huge congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations! And you have just ignited baby fever here. He is an absolute doll <3
My excitement, happiness, and joy for you, Matt and Dibits knows no bounds. I am truly thrilled for you. *jazz hands* Congrats my friend!
What else can one say…awwwwww he is stinking cute! Let’s hope Elizabeth likes him, such big eyes he has to watch her and learn everything she knows!…that wasnt an observation but a warning!
Congratulations! Very impressive indeed, and very very cute! And might I say that I adore the name Ryan? That is what we named our youngest. And Elizabeth was going to be our girl name… I am so happy for you all! I wish I would have read your “baby prep” post before I had Ryan, those are fabulous ideas and probably would have helped me immensely. Enjoy the crazy fun times to come! One of my favorite memories is the moment I introduced my two children.
Yeah!!! Congratulations!!! He is a cutie!!! :)
You are a rockstar!! Congrats again!
I appreciate your efficiency. I mean, getting there in time to change clothes seems a little extravagant. But overall very impressive.
I don’t read your blog regularly, but have checked in from time to time over several years. I am so happy for you! He is really cute, too!
He’s beautiful, Jen!!!!! Welcome to the world, Ryan!
I have died of cuteness overload @ least a dozen times from looking at Dibits holding Ryan. I don’t know if my heart can handle another death. But, I think I will look again and see what happens. He’s such a cutie! And that “going home outfit” is precious as well. He’s going to fit in just perfectly. I hope you have a lot of help during the coming weeks. If I didn’t live 2.5 hours away (by plane) I would volunteer for the overnight shift in a heartbeat. Much love and wishes for a lot of sleep @ night! JS (Jodi)
Congrats!!He is adorable:)
I think you were very clever to go and have Ryan just in time to beat the induction.
Also, I am so very happy for you my friend.
So very happy.

Congratulations!!! He is really cute. Great job mama!!!
Awww… looks sort of like my son when he was born! (Don’t worry, he’ll get better looking lol- sometimes newborns have that “face only a mother could love”) Many congrats for this blessing!
I congratulated you via Twitter but not here. Congrats on your sweet boy’s arrival! I am amused that you thwarted being induced :-)
Congratulations! I’ve been following along but only now getting a chance to comment :-) He is precious and the photos of him with Elizabeth are just beyond adorable!
I have been out of the loop and missed this awesome wonderful post about your son’s birth. I am so happy for you. Congratulations!
