This morning, I took two whole children to Walmart all by myself. And we all came home in one piece! That’s right, folks, clearly I am a superior parent.
Actually, it was the calmest, easiest grocery shopping trip with kid(s) that I have ever taken. I wore Ryan in my Gemini carrier and he slept the whole time. And Elizabeth was on her super amazing best behavior, probably because she was thrilled to get some alone time with Mama.

On the way. (We keep car toys in the pumpkin year round. Best car toy storage I’ve found.)

Obviously the baby is wearing a pumpkin hat. What kind of person would I be if I did not take advantage of the upcoming holidays?
I forget why I took this picture. But I do remember that I took it for a specific reason because there was something I was going to tell the internet. So you will look at the picture anyway, darn it!

Unrelated story: when the relatives left tonight, I saw the playroom was like this. The explanation was “Elizabeth didn’t want to clean up, so we didn’t.” Yeah. She’s three. That’s why we don’t let her vote on whether or not we clean up.

Love the hand sticking out of the carrier!
That’s a mess? You can see carpet. And walk through the room! :)
I consider it a mess when it is being left for the woman who just had a baby to clean up. Instead of, you know, the people who got out the toys in the first place.
The pumpkin hat is super adorable. Also, I love Dibits sunglasses!
Helen & I were at WM this morning. Ours, not yours, but had we coordinated-
I think you took that picture so we could see the baby pumpkin foot. We love baby feet over here!
P.S. Color me impressed! 13 days!
Love the pumpkin idea!
And yeah, kids don’t get a vote on clean up
Congrats on the outting!
Go Jen!!!
Did you locate a cauldron?
Yay!! You rock and Dibits reminds me of a music or movie star in the making.
Way to go on getting out of the house! I remember being scared to take out two for the first time but then I realized it wasn’t as big a deal as people tried to warn me about. My second child (like your Ryan appears to be so far) is so much easier on me than my first one. It’s the best way to have babies, I think. I would have gone nuts if my first was easy and my second was…not easy.
Good for you! I remember my first solo outing. Once you do that, the rest is “easy” – ha! But, seriously, it does get easier and you learn the tricks of moving two small people around. Hmmmm, remind me of that when I am panicking in a couple of weeks about going anywhere with three.
Obviously you took that picture to show us the adorable scrunchy pumpkin baby foot and little pumpkin stem hat sticking out, I mean come on! Could that be any cuter? Also, I can’t even handle Elizabeth in her sunglasses. Man, I bet you get tons of comments out with those two.
I mean no disrespect to your relatives, but I can’t help but feel rage over the mess thing! I had some of my husbands relatives over when my son was born, and they were treating it like it was a vacation and I had to cater to them the whole time. I ha to clean up after them, cook for them, etc, ugh! Again not saying your relatives are The same, but the picture brought up those bad feelings! Sorry you had to clean up after them.
Same thing happened to me with my firstborn. I was not happy. So when my second child was born, I only allowed my mother-in-law to visit during part of my mom’s extended visit. Because I knew I could count on my mom to help and save me from the insanity.
Congrats on a successful outing! Love Ryan’s pumpkin hat and Elizabeth’s sunglasses. And yeah, kids do not get a vote on cleaning up.
That’s it. I am not cleaning up today because I don’t feel like it.
I’m glad we don’t let kids vote in our house because we’d be outvoted.
